Why use tallow?
Tallow is very similar to our skin and mimics the natural skin barrier - since it's rendered from animal fat, it's very similar to our own skin chemistry! Tallow is excellent for reducing dryness, acne, or eczema and can soothe the skin to provide the right mineral requirements we need for our skin's health. Our skin is our largest organ, and healthy skin is just as important as the rest of our body.
Skin microbiome
Tallow may help support the skin's microbiome. Tallow contains vitamins and minerals that can help the skin produce collagen, and it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that may help with various skin conditions. Tallow essentially helps nourish and calm the skin.

What makes tallow unique?
Tallow is an animal product which makes it easier for our skin to absorb and is more bio-available than most plant products. The chemical makeup of high-quality tallow is very similar to our skins DNA, making it more efficient at soothing, combating, and healing stubborn skin issues.

Does it smell like beef?

Not at all! Our unscented (plain) tallow is literally SCENTLESS – we do offer a few variations scented with essential oils. Our rendering and filter process cleans and renders the tallow into a pure form that removes any smell. We mix with cold-pressed olive oil for our Grass-Fed Unscented that only has two ingredients! Our family uses high quality clean fat and slow render in small batches to remove impurities.

Is it greasy?
It is more of a silky feel on the skin and a little goes a LONG way. A dime size amount or less can moisturize both hands and your face. It’s amazing how moisturizing a small amount is!

Will it clog my pores?

Not at all! Tallow scores very low on the comedogenic scale which means tallow is very unlikely to clog your pores. High-quality tallow cream is non-comedogenic, so it works WITH your skin’s natural barrier, instead of against it. Even though tallow balm has a thick and creamy texture, it shouldn’t clog pores or lead to breakouts.

Why do we pair olive oil with our Tallow?
Moisturizing: Like, tallow, olive oil's chemical composition is like human skin, making it a great moisturizer for all skin types.
Anti-inflammatory: Olive oil's antioxidants, including vitamin E, can help soothe irritated skin caused by acne or psoriasis.
Antioxidant protection: Olive oil's antioxidants protect against free radicals that can cause wrinkles and premature aging.
Wound healing: Olive oil's anti-inflammatory properties and triterpenes can help wounds heal by increasing collagen production.
